Women and wine: Venetian Hills owner Beth Moreno talks prosecco and sustainability

February 1, 2022

Think about Italian bubbly, you immediately think – PROSECCO. This wildly popular beverage reaches its epitome in the beautiful and historic Asola region just north of Venice.

I had the distinct honor to interview Beth Moreno, the owner of Venetian Hills, a winery in the medieval town of Asolo. She explained how she creates top quality and certified sustainable Asolo Prosecco DOCG. I also sampled her exquisite bubbly compared to regular Prosecco DOC – what a difference!

As part of my WSET Diploma in Wine, I am working on a thesis on sustainability in the wine industry. Beth’s vineyard and winery are a perfect example of how to do things right while enhancing the quality of the wine produced. She has been certified Sustainable for the past three years and is committed to caring not just for the land and the quality of the wine, but the people who work for her and the broader community. Brava, Beth!

About Beth: Beth (Betty) Moreno is a viticulturist in the Veneto area of Italy, precisely in the hills of Asolo.  She has extensive experience in the viticultural world and is adept at utilizing natural and human resources to facilitate the production of various sparkling wines with sustainable farming methods to conserve the unique beauty and flavor of this magical land. She holds a degree from the University of Padua and is an AIS sommelier and speaks English and Italian.

Please enjoy this video and presentation as we armchair travel to the Veneto in Italy. After this you’ll be planning your trip to Asolo to see this beautiful part of the world and try Beth’s amazing Asolo Prosecco DOCG!
